Exhibits about Plants

Currently Concepting and Prototyping

I am currently part of a team working on an upcoming exhibition about Plants. It is a multi-year project that is striving to develop cultural competence specific to Latinx communities and STEM learning.

The project content maps are still evolving, but the exhibition aims to present a fundamental understanding of what plants do and their connections to our environment and ourselves.

The project focus on Latinx audience engagement has shifted who and what sources we look toward for our content. So forming authentic partnerships with community members has been a key focus thus far.

As an exhibit developer, that means I am imagining exhibit co-creation in a new way and prototyping experiences that make room for other voices.

GOAL:
We are picking the content that we think is important, inspiring, amd meaningful. We get input to make sure it:
-Aligns with what leaders in academic science think is important
-Aligns with what plant experts outside academics think is important
-Reflects the Exploratorium’s pedagogy
-Incorporates audience inpu (especially audiences we have not been reaching)

OUTCOME:
After we inalize content and theme we will refine protoypes to align with what we are learning resonates with audiences.
